Forgiveness from God
Whether we do something wrong (sinful) that no one knows about, disobey a simple rule or say an unkind word to someone, we sin against God. We may think that a small sin doesn’t really matter, that somehow the stain on our heart will slowly disappear. But sin doesn’t fade away with time even when we have long forgotten what we did. If we don’t ask God to forgive us and make our hearts new, we will have to answer to Him for every sin in our hearts (Read 1 Peter 4:5).
To God, a ‘small’ sin is no less important than a ‘big’ sin; all sin separates us from Him because He is holy. Even if we had only sinned once, we are as guilty as if we had broken every command (James 2:10).
There is good news though - very good news! Jesus can take away every sin - yes, every sin! Jesus already took the blame and punishment for your sin when He died on the cross. All you have to do is ask God to forgive you and He will wipe every trace of sin away. "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool” Isaiah 1:18… all we have to do is ask for forgiveness.
A prayer you can pray
Dear God, please forgive me for what I did. It was wrong and I disobeyed you. Please help me not to do it again. Thank You that by the time I have finished this prayer there will be no record of my sin - You won’t even remember the wrong I did. Lord, help me to love You more and more each day.
Amen.
